The report from the Birmingham Mail said that Sunderland are interested in signing Harrison Sonha from Villa. Sunderland are looking at a summer move for the player.

Sunderland are not new to the act of signing players from Premier League teams as they have done that in recent times. The Black Cats have signed the likes of Morgan Feeney from Merseyside giants Everton, former Burnley starlet Vinnie Steels and ex-West Brom prospect Sam Wilding and Sonha could be the next young player to leave a Premier League team for Sunderland.

Sonha has few months left on his Villa contract scheduled to run out in July. The 18-year-old is on course to wear the red-and-black stripes of the Black Cats as from the new season in August with reports claiming that Aston Villa are prepared to let him leave the club on a free transfer in the summer.

Sunderland recently invited Sonha on trial and the deep-lying midfielder was handed a start for the youth team game against Norwich City.

Sonha has played 11 times for the Aston Villa reserve team in Premier League 2 this season and he made his debut for Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round defeat at the hands of Liverpool at the start of this year. Villa officials were forced to field reserve team players after the Covid-19 outbreak amongst the first team squad members.
